Ruby Bridges was innate within Mississippi in 1954, and moved using her parents to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 2. Within 1960, when she was six years old, her parents responded to a call for from either the NAACP and volunteered her to participate in the integration of the New Orleans School rules. She became the foremost blacken baby to attend William Frantz Simple School, & a number one blacken simple school kid to attend a whiten school around Louisiana.
Due to whiten opposition to integration, she required protection to enter a school, & when local & state officials were unwilling to provide it she was accompanied by federal marshalls. Her mother got warned her that there "might be a lot of people outside this new school", however differently that she experienced there is no warning of a crowds of screaming racialist she got to pass across to enter the school. When she describes it, "[d]riving up I could see the crowd, but living in New Orleans, I actually thought it was Mardi Gras. There was a large crowd of people outside of the school. They were throwing things and shouting, and that sort of goes on in New Orleans at Mardi Gras."
